The David Lee Roth Chronology1954 - 10th October David Lee Roth born in Bloomington, Indiana.
Late 60's - David Lee Roth moved to Pasadena, California. 1974 - David Lee Roth rented his PA to VH brothers, later he joined their band, Mammoth, as the vocalist. A few months later, Michael Anthony joined the band as the bass player and they changed their name to Van Halen. 1976 - Gene Simmons, from KISS, produced the first VH demo tape. 1977 - Van Halen signed a record deal with Warner Bros. 1978 - Van Halen released their first album, called Van Halen I. Then tour heavily with Black Sabbath, Journey and Montrose. 1979 - Van Halen released the second album, Van Halen II, including the hit, Dance the Night Away. 1984 - VH released 1984, including 3 big hits, Jump, Panama and Hot for Teacher. late 1984 - David Lee Roth released a solo EP including 4 covers called Crazy from the Heat. 1985 - After releasing 6 successful albums with Van Halen, David Lee Roth quit the band. 1986 - David Lee Roth released the straight hard rock Eat em and Smile, with guitar genius Steve Vai. Including big hits like Yankee Rose and Going Crazy! 1988 - David Lee Roth released the keyboard oriented album, Skyscraper, including the hit Just Like Paradise. 1991 - After 2 years of hiatus, David Lee Roth released another straight hard rock album, A lil ain't Enough, including Jason Becker. Sadly, he was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease and quit the band before the arena tour. 1994 - After another couple of years of hiatus, David Lee Roth released the ecletic Your Filthy little Mouth. 1995 - David Lee Roth performed a small cassino tour in Las Vegas with Nile Rodgers and Edgar Winter. 1996 - David Lee Roth reunited with Van Halen after 12 years and recorded 2 brand new songs for a compilation album. But after an appearance at the MTV Music Awards, David Lee Roth quit the band for the second time. 1997 - David Lee Roth released a solo compilation, simply called The Best of David Lee Roth, and also released his biography called "Crazy form the Heat". 1998 - David Lee Roth recruited a band, including John 5, called DLR Band and recorded a raw straight hard rock album in Classic Van Halen style. 2003 - After years touring with his solo band, Roth released Diamond Dave, a disc with mostly classic rock cover songs. 2006 - Roth replaced Howard Stern in Radio with the great and infamous David Lee Roth Show. But, after 4 months on air, David Lee Roth quit the show. Roth released a bluegrass VH Tribute, called Strumming with the Devil, including his and multiple artists playing VH classics. | ||
